Reading should be insisted on being a routine for children. Television has taken a prominent place in their lives to such an extent that even while having dinner together they are totally glued to it.Such has been an influence of the Television in the minds of kids. This has resulted in most of the kids lacking the habit to read books of their age.Books provide not only knowledge but also make us think, learn and increase our vocablary. Books broaden our vision and are touted to be the true friends.
But sadly over the past decade television and Internet have been ruling the roost all over.Kids are so addicted to them that they hardly find enough time to take a book on hand and read it.
However Shri Vision Social Empowerment and Welfare Association (SRV SEWA) has decided to address the issue in a different way by creating a world record. 351 students from Vidyasagar School in Indore, Madhya Pradesh,India read a line each from the book A Short Life of Sri Ramakrishna' a 45 page book written by Swami Tejasananda of Ramakrishna Mission.
The event took place on November 5,2011 with the support of 'Dainik Dabang Dunia' a leading newspaper .In this way the students got enlightened by reading the book and the organisation set the message very clear about the importance of reading habits.
